Dulux Visualizer is an app that helps you redecorate your home by showing you how it would look when painted in certain colors. While the app is primarily intended for those who want to use Dulux paints for their project, you might still find some value in it even if you're going to use another brand of paint.

Augmented Reality Technology Meets Interior Decorating

The Dulux Visualizer app uses the latest in augmented reality technology to help you get remodeling ideas. If you have an Android phone or tablet with on-board movement sensors, the visualizer allows you to see a different color on your walls as you look at them through your device's camera.

However, not all devices have compatible movement sensors. If this is the case with yours, the app has a static mode that it will use instead. It will take a static photo of your wall and apply your chosen color to it.

See Your Walls in Any Dulux Color

To use Dulux Visualizer, just point your camera towards a wall and select one of the Dulux paint colors. The app will then show you how the wall looks in that specific color. You can move on to another color next and the app will repaint the wall for you automatically.

Another interesting feature in this home decorating app is color matching. You simply point your camera at any object and it will analyze its color in order to find the nearest paint color carried by Dulux. This feature is great if you want to coordinate the color of your wall with your furnishing or even if you like the color of a certain object inside or outside your home and would like to see it on your wall.

There's a social feature too. You can share your design ideas and photos of your walls with a virtual coat of paint through several social or messaging services. This is a great way to find out what your friends think of your decorating ideas.

Decent Performance for a Free App

As augmented reality is a relatively new technology, even software that costs thousands of dollars and is created for professionals isn't going to work flawlessly in every scenario. For a simple free app, Dulux Visualizer does a good job in most cases. A few users have reported device compatibility problems that can make the app freeze or function very slowly. Sometimes, it might not recognize a wall or change the color of something it shouldn't. This made a few users have a laugh as a virtual coat of paint was applied to a pet or a person's shirt.
